Chores, Football, and Miniature Pigs

I set an alarm for 8:30 am this morning, but even waking up to the glorious sound of my favorite band Bastille couldn't get me out of bed. 8:30. . . what was I thinking? I turned off my alarm and slept until 10 am (ah, yes; that's more like it). Maybe it's because I stayed up past 1:30 am writing and playing videogames. Or maybe it's because I had written a very long, overwhelming to-do list the previous night for today.

Apparently I was supposed to have exercised, done chores, loaded a bunch of pictures onto my computer, and typed up a couple of blog posts by 10 am. Yeah, right. I was just now awake by 10 am.

This morning when I went out to do my chores (while jamming out to NF, Kane Brown, and Dean Lewis), I got some pictures. In the pictures below is my pet miniature pig, Petunia. Isn't she absolutely adorable?

A couple of days ago I had to clean her pen out, but it was very difficult because Petunia decided to tear a big chunk out of the brown paper bag I brought with me. So then I had to shovel all of the piggy poop and carry it out one shovelful at a time. It wasn't fun.

When I finished, I threw down some straw around her house and put the rest inside of it. Petunia actually did most of the work for me! Usually I have to spread the straw around with a pitchfork, but she rooted it and did all of the work with that precious little snout. It was a win-win for us both: Petunia got to have some fun, and it kept her out of my way while I worked.

I also happen to be allergic to straw and hay, so it was nice that I didn't have to deal with that. Here's the outside of her house after I finished.

And here's the inside.

Isn't it hilarious how she makes a little tunnel in her bedding to sleep in?

Surprisingly (and I say "surprisingly" because I surprised myself) I checked almost everything off of my to-do list. Except exercise. You've probably noticed by now that I'm alarmingly good at procrastinating. Yep, it's my specialty.

I spent some time today designing this blog, so if you're reading this the day it was posted, the website probably doesn't look too pretty. I still have a lot to do, but for now I'm just going to worry about posting each entry as I write it.

Today I planned on rebooting an old blog and sifting through all of the content on there (because I know the posts need a lot of revising). I never got around to that (surprise, surprise), but it's something I'm really interested in doing, so I think I'll work on that tomorrow. If I get the blog up and running again, I'll be sure to post the link on this blog.

The playoff games are finally here! My older brother is a big Buffalo Bills fan, so you can imagine how pumped he is about the game (Bills vs Texans). I'm going for the Texans for several reasons: (1) the Bills annoy me, (2) Josh Allen annoys me, (3) my older brother's fanboying annoys me, (4) I don't like the Bills, and (5) my brother and I have a sort of football rivalry here. Let me explain.

I'm a Seattle Seahawks maniac/crazy fangirl, and his team is the Bills. He insults my team and I insult his. We have a pretty good relationship except for when it comes to football. I've gotten pretty good at roasting the Bills and all of the Bills players. When I do this, he proceeds to tell me how many Super Bowls they've been to--but what's it matter how many Super Bowls you've gone to if you've never won any!

We can both get pretty savage. Whenever the Seahawks and Bills play each other, it's like a miniature civil war in our house. The Hawks always win, of course, and I can't even begin to tell you about the fun of rubbing that victory in.

The Seahawks (go Hawks, baby!) are playing the Eagles tomorrow. However, they are playing on Channel 5, but we don't get Channel 5. Can you believe that? It's so ridiculous. We have some satellite thing that we installed because DirecTv doesn't work in our area, but half of the time neither does the satellite.

Oh, guess what? I'm thinking about starting a blog about all of the nerdy stuff I like (videogames, Magic: The Gathering, books, technology, etc.). What do you guys think about that? Should I do it? Any title ideas would be greatly appreciated.

I'd say that today has been surprisingly productive. I rebooted this blog, typed up a couple of posts, worked on the design for this blog, and watched some football. All in a day's work, right?

Thanks for reading. :)

A Day in Town

Today has been so rainy and dreary, one of those days where you just feel like doing something. The sky is a pale hue between gray and a faded. . . blue? The sun is hidden beneath a mass of wispy white clouds, and a bitter, biting wind hangs in the air.

This morning I woke up early at 8 o'clock (which is very early for me, considering the fact that I usually go to sleep at 1-2 am and get up around 11 am. #writerlife :D Unfortunately, my mom says that my sleeping habits are unacceptable, and they won't be tolerated when school starts back. Which is this Monday. Where does the time go?

I had the best Christmas break ever. I spent it staying up far too late, writing, eating candy, and binge-watching Downton Abbey. I could have been a lot more productive, but where's the fun in that? Ah, yes: the many problems of being a writer. My mindset is usually "Sleep is for the weak!" or "Just one more chapter.". As you can imagine, I don't really get much done.

This morning after finally convincing myself to exercise (I don't know what got into me), I went into town with my mom and brothers. We dropped my older brother off at his work, then we had to run to Hobby Lobby for a ball of yarn. My mom and I are both yarn junkies; you can probably imagine how I felt when I walked dejectedly through that glorious store without a single cent on me. Oh, well; it was probably better that way.

Afterwards we did some grocery shopping. I have no idea why, but I really love going grocery shopping. While pushing the basket and shopping, I used the Wi-Fi to check my email, check the statistics for my blog, look at my Wattpad and Pinterest notifications, and download a bunch of music. All of this I managed to do without being abducted. Oh, and my phone was even at 3%.

Then we arrived at the destination I had been anticipating most: the library. The beautiful, sacred, glorious library. Just the dusty smell of old, treasured books is heaven to me. Unfortunately, we didn't stay for long; all I could do was run in and pick up a book that the library had been holding for me ("Blogging for Dummies"). The transaction took longer than I expected, but I was perfectly content to stand and breathe in the wonderful smell of books.

I spent the rest of the afternoon typing up blog posts, listening to Bastille's music like a normal person fangirling over Bastille's music, cooking dinner, and creating way too many blogs to keep up with.

Oh, guess what? I created a blog on Tumblr called Micah's Musings. I've never even used Tumblr before (I've just seen all of the rants people go on about writing and whatnot), but I read in Blogging for Dummies that you can blog with it. Micah's Musings is basically just a place where I share my art, photo edits, writing tips, and random rants. Basically anything that's on my mind but doesn't make enough sense to post on a blog. It'd be really cool if you guys could check it out.

Well, that's all for today, but I'll write again tomorrow. Thanks for reading my pointless rambling; if you have anything to say, I'd love to hear it!
